About the Log Cabin Bureau

The voice of the log home community.

Independent education for buyers. A united community for builders. One shared belief — that we are stronger together than on our own.

Our story

Built by people who love this industry.

The Log Cabin Bureau was founded by a husband-and-wife team with a deep passion for the log home industry and a simple conviction: buyers deserve honest guidance, and builders deserve a community that lifts them all.

One idea drove our efforts as we brought the Bureau into existence — we are stronger together than on our own. The need for partnership and the exchange of knowledge and best practices has never been greater than in today's evolving market. So we built a home for it: a place that connects buyers with vetted craftsmen, informs every decision with independent education, and inspires families to imagine the life they could build in timber.

What we stand for

Three commitments, every day.

Connecting

We unite buyers, builders, and member firms — turning a fragmented industry into one collaborative community.

Informing

We publish clear, independent education on every stage of the journey, with no sales pressure and no jargon.

Inspiring

We celebrate the craft — real homes, real makers, and the stories that make people fall in love with log living.

The face of the Bureau

Bryan Reid

Profits come third. Customers and family come first. Get that order right and the rest takes care of itself.

Bryan Reid grew up in poverty in Williams Lake, British Columbia. Wanting to provide for his young family, he set out to build a log home — learning the craft on nights and weekends from First Nations master builder Sampson Jack, who became his mentor.

In 1973 he founded Pioneer Log Homes of B.C. He brought in his brothers and his son, Bryan Jr., who started working logs as a boy. Over five decades Pioneer grew into one of the most recognized handcrafted log home companies on earth, shipping homes around the world and earning the world's attention through HGTV's Timber Kings and Carver Kings.

Today Bryan lends his name and a lifetime of craftsmanship to the Log Cabin Bureau — a fitting face for an organization devoted to the buyers and builders who keep the tradition alive.
